Underground Railroad

For those who do not know, we homeschool our daughters. We have been homeschooling for the past couple years and we love it. We go on many field trips and I will be posting as we go. Here is our most recent.

Last Friday we went downtown to the First Congregational Church in Detroit which hosts the "Flight To Freedom Tour", and Underground Railroad living museum. The church itself is gorgeous and I have included pictures of it. We had about 50+ kids & parents from our group attending. We watched a video, heard an interesting lecture on Harriet Tubman and then the kids were taken in groups through the 'underground railroad'. This is a story telling re-enactment of the original passage that we were acting participants of. It was very exciting.
